Funke and the Two Tone Baby – An Introduction!

This introduction will be aimed at discovering the illusive and mysterious Funke and the Two Tone Baby, and journeying under the skin and into the heart and brain of what I do. The Origins of them Two Tone Baby’s will be explained at a later date…

So to what I do… what do I do? – The Times describes it as ‘the inability to give up creative control’
I call it making music the best and only way I know how… on my own, with a little box of lights and tricks, shoving as many instruments and microphones into my mouth as I can fit, strapping anything with makes a noise to my hands, kicking anything that bumps and clatters with my feet, sellotaping cymbals to my knees and bass drum to my back… well maybe not that far but close enough! A one-man band for a new era of solo performed music (with which the Times can fuck them selves).

The loop pedal is becoming a common weapon in the guitarists pedal sheath, but I like to think I wield this mighty tool with grace, tact and dexterity. ‘Beat’ing to the left, chording to the right, harmonizing up, harmonicaing down, beheading, disemboweling, etc.

It has taken me a long time to finally acquire the correct pieces of this musical puzzle. I’ve experimented with Keyboards (which are to cumbersome), Sitars (which are impossible to tune), Mandolins (which are to high-endy) and a Mellodica (which I can’t mic well live… but will be used at a later date).
I have ended this apocalyptic journey with my final (but be assure not permanent) line-up.

1 – a Microphone – Shure SM-57
2 – a Microphone – Shure Green Bullet Harmonica Mic
3 – a Stompbox – Logarhythm
4 – a Guitar – Ridgewood Folk Guitar (Broken)
Many Harmonicas
A Tambourine and Egg-Shaker
My Voice
My Hands
An occasional Trumpeteer, Violinist and Backing Vocalist

Well that is What I Do, What I Use and How I Came To It! Now Lets see it in Action – I present to you the title rack from my upcoming EP ‘Pushing You Back’…
